Bali 2013

The last field trip that I went to was in the 4th grade and that was to Bandung. I'm pretty sure part of the reason that I was allowed to go was because it wasn't that expensive. The thing that you should know about GMIS is that field trips don't come cheap. In fact, Cheap is the last word you'll use to describe a GMIS field trip so when I heard about the field trip to Bali in the 12th grade, my natural instinct was to say "Nah, I don't think I'm going". And when my friends would ask why, I'd reply "too expensive and it's probably not worth it". Truth be told, I wanted to go just because it was my last GMIS trip. And it'll be my first one in 8 years.

The cost of the trip was as expected. Overpriced. I mean, 4 days in Bali and most of the days are those "free" days where you can do whatever you want? The trip already seemed like rip off but I didn't really care. How many times are you gonna get to go somewhere with 50+ people that you know right?

So I ended up going to Bali and I'm so glad that I did. Sure, a couple of my close friends that I really wanted to be there couldn't come because of the SAT but even without them I had some of the best times of my life. Yeah, LIFE. We pretty much had the whole villa to ourselves despite a couple rooms that were already occupied. Man I feel sorry for whoever's vacation we ruined those 4 days. We were LOUD every night. 3 am was the normal sleeping time every night.

Throughout the whole trip I didn't think about how expensive it was. I didn't care about the money. It's not like I'm going here every month or something. I wanted to live it up and like some of my annoying friends say, "YOLO". I became so close with people who I thought I'd never become close with and to this day we're still good friends. It's funny how even now, a solid month after Bali, people are still talking about it like it was last week. And for those people who didn't go because of the same reasons that I never went to all those other trips, They really don't know what they missed out on.

Here's a list of things that I miss from Bali:

*And I bet you guys miss something that's on this list too*

  • Eating breakfast with friends while talking about how drunk everyone was the night before
  • All the rides in Waterbom
  • Walking around and finding shops and restaurants around the hotel
  • Going to the nearest minimart to buy MORE ALCOHOL
  • Wearing singlets EVERYWHERE
  • Swimming every evening in the hotel pool
  • Playing cards
  • And lastly, getting DRUNK with everyone
PS : Thanks to Fionny's Article for making me want to write this. :)
